Officially introduced at CES 2015, Asus is gearing to launch the Zenfone Zoom device in Cebu, an island in central Philippines. The launch coincides with the city’s annual Sinulog Festival celebration.
The Asus ZenFone Zoom features a 5.5-inch display with 1920×1080 pixels resolution protected with a coating of Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on top. The device is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Atom processor paired with 4GB of RAM. The internal storage of the smartphone accounts to 64GB/128GB, which can be expanded further up to 128GB using a microSD card.
Asus ZenFone Zoom is very similar to the ZenFone 2 in terms of its internals. But the back of the ZenFone Zoom looks more like a pocket camera, it uses a 13-megapixel Panasonic SmartFSI sensor, which isn’t too different than all the other 13-megapixel shooters on the market, including the ZenFone 2. Where the Zoom differs, however, is in its 10-element lens from Hoya. The camera has an aperture range from f/2.7 to f/4.8 and a 28-84mm focal length.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, 4G LTE (Cat 4) and microUSB 2.0. The Android Lollipop based smartphone comes with ZenUI on top.
